Wow! Today has been filled with a Japanese garden (actually part of the hotel grounds), several speakers on topics such as education and theater, and a demonstration of Kyogen and Kabuki theater styles. We watched this woman apply her traditional make-up before doing this dance. Of course you know I loved every minute of it. You'll all be proud to know that I didn't hop up on stage to try and dance with her. Whew!
Speaking of my minutes and how they will be spent, here is my itinerary for the time I have left in Japan:
Today-Fri., 10-6: Tokyo sightseeing and visits to government offices
Saturday, 10-7: Travel to Kamakura (a nearby city) or more Tokyo fun
Sun.-Fri., 10-13: 20 of the 200 participants will travel to Eniwa, Hokkaido
Sat., 14-Sun., 15th: Home stay with music teaching couple in Eniwa
Mon., 10-16: Travel to a ryokan (hot spring inn)
Tues., 10-17-Thurs., 10-19: Return to Tokyo for more activities.
Thursday, 10-19: Return to MN to bore you with photos and stories

OK! My first thought was, "Oh my gosh she has only been there two days and already has Japanese makeup on and is up on the stage!" I thought that woman was you (-: Sounds like it is already very fun. Can't wait to see more pics of Tokyo.
Mary,
Sounds like you are really having fun. Thanks for the blog, we appreciate it. It's fun to see what you are doing. Hope you get a chance to play your Tyko drums.

Okay, seriously, that WAS you on stage wasn't it???? I knew it was just a matter of time before you found a way to truly assimilate. By the way, how was the landing into Narita??? Hard to imagine that a 400 passenger jet is able to maneuver its way around skyscrapers and the landscape. What has the weather been like? Have you eaten anything that you're not sure of its origin? Can you describe the landscape and the smells?
Safe travels, Mary...

Yes, I too thought you were up on stage...what does that say about your Shako friends? I believe Cori could try that same makeup technique on you for your wedding?! Going to any temples? Are you using the train?
-Brothers...they're all the same :)
